Large Rooftop Solar Project Planned in Coastal Virginia12.4.13 - In connection with a new Dominion Virginia Power initiative, the Solar Power Partnership program, the company announced yesterday that over 2000 panels are to be installed atop Canon Virginia's Industrial Resource Technologies facility in Gloucester. The $2 million dollar project will provide over 500 kW of power that will be distributed to the grid and provide energy for approximately 125 homes. Depending on actual output, this array could rival the 2,100 panel/ 500 + kW system installed atop an Ikea store in Woodbridge, VA. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and be completed in early 2014. Dominion intends to lease more commercial and publicly owned rooftops and property to install solar arrays and provide up to 30 MW of power in the Commonwealth. More info. |
